Why Be A Surrogate?

Becoming a surrogate involves big commitment, but ultimately brings the reward of helping create new families.

Financial Benefits & Compensation Structure

Base Compensation for Connecticut Surrogates

First-time surrogates in Connecticut typically receive base compensation ranging from $55,000 to $65,000, recognizing the significant commitment, care, and dedication that gestational surrogacy requires. Experienced surrogates who have previously completed a surrogacy journey often earn substantially more—between $70,000 and $85,000—in recognition of their proven experience and expertise.

Comprehensive Benefits Package – Beyond base compensation, Connecticut surrogates receive extensive reimbursements and allowances designed to support your wellbeing throughout the entire process. These comprehensive benefits help offset pregnancy-related expenses while ensuring your comfort and security:

Pregnancy Wardrobe Stipend – A dedicated allowance to help you purchase comfortable, professional maternity clothing throughout your pregnancy.

Complete Medical Coverage – Intended parents are responsible for providing comprehensive health insurance coverage that addresses all prenatal care, delivery expenses, and postpartum medical needs.

Monthly Expense Allowance – Regular stipend to cover pregnancy-related daily expenses including transportation costs, parking fees, and communication expenses.

Dependent Care & Transportation Support – Complete coverage for childcare during medical appointments if you have children at home. All travel-related expenses including mileage, parking, tolls, and overnight accommodations are fully reimbursed.

$4,000 Contract Bonus – This substantial bonus payment is provided in 2 installments, $1,000 at the time of medical clearance and $3,000 at the time of legal clearance, acknowledging your dedication and providing immediate financial support as you begin this journey.

When considering all benefits and reimbursements, the total compensation package for Connecticut surrogates frequently reaches or exceeds $85,000.

Medical Coverage & Legal Safeguards

Healthcare Protection Under Connecticut Law

The Connecticut Parentage Act mandates that intended parents cover all surrogacy-related medical costs not covered by existing insurance policies. This includes deductibles, co-payments, and any specialized services. Should your current health insurance exclude surrogacy coverage, a comprehensive supplemental policy will be secured to ensure complete protection throughout your journey.

Enhanced Legal Security

Connecticut’s updated surrogacy legislation provides unprecedented legal clarity and protection. Surrogacy agreements are now formally recognized and legally enforceable, creating transparency and security at every stage. When you partner with Abundant Beginnings Co. (ABC Surrogacy), our experienced team ensures you receive proper compensation, comprehensive care, and the respect you deserve throughout the process.

Connecticut Surrogate Eligibility Requirements

Age Guidelines

We typically work with candidates between 21 and 42 years of age. This range optimizes medical safety while ensuring candidates possess the physical stamina and emotional maturity necessary for pregnancy.

Optimal Health Status

A Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18 and 30 is preferred. Maintaining healthy weight standards reduces pregnancy complications and promotes positive outcomes for both surrogate and baby.

Previous Successful Pregnancy

Candidates must have successfully completed at least one full-term pregnancy without significant complications. This requirement demonstrates your body’s capability while providing you with personal understanding of the pregnancy experience.

Immigration & Residency Status

You must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or green card holder with current documentation. Proper legal status ensures full protection under Connecticut surrogacy laws and the Parentage Act.

Comprehensive Health Evaluation

All surrogates complete thorough medical examinations to assess overall health and identify any potential risk factors.

A psychological evaluation is also required to ensure emotional readiness and provide support resources throughout the surrogacy process.

Security Clearance

A standard background investigation is conducted for both you and your domestic partner (if applicable), along with the Intended Parent(s) you will be working with on your journey. This process ensures safety and confidence for all parties throughout the journey.

At ABC Surrogacy, our mission is to equip you with comprehensive resources, guidance, and support needed to embark on your surrogacy journey with complete confidence. If you’re considering becoming a surrogate in Connecticut, we would be honored to guide you through this meaningful experience.

The Connecticut Surrogacy Process

Abundant Beginnings Co. (ABC Surrogacy) follows established protocols recommended by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) to ensure your Connecticut surrogacy experience is safe, respectful, and deeply fulfilling.

Here’s what you can expect throughout the process:

Initial Matching & Legal Consultation

Our process begins with careful consideration of both your preferences and those of prospective intended parents to create compatible partnerships. Independent consultations allow all parties to discuss expectations, communication preferences, and shared objectives, establishing a strong foundation for collaboration.

After you and a family choose to proceed together, specialized Connecticut surrogacy attorneys provide guidance through the legal framework. In accordance with Connecticut law, you’ll receive independent legal representation at no cost to you to ensure your rights are thoroughly protected and all agreement terms are clearly understood.

Contract Execution

When all parties are prepared, you’ll review and execute a comprehensive surrogacy agreement. Following Connecticut Parentage Act requirements, this contract specifies:

  • Legal obligations and responsibilities
  • Compensation structure and reimbursement schedules
  • Health and autonomy protections during pregnancy
  • Delivery planning, communication protocols, and medical decision-making authority

All contracts must be properly notarized and executed before any fertility treatments begin, meeting state compliance requirements.

Medical Protocol & Conception

Under specialized fertility physician supervision, you’ll begin a customized medical regimen designed to prepare your body for successful embryo transfer. This phase typically includes hormone therapy and lifestyle recommendations to support optimal pregnancy outcomes.

You’ll maintain regular communication with your fertility clinic, following precise timing and dosage instructions. ABC Surrogacy remains available for questions or support throughout this critical phase.

Prenatal Care & Ongoing Support

Following pregnancy confirmation, you’ll establish regular prenatal care with your chosen obstetrician. You’ll also maintain ongoing communication with intended parents, providing updates on significant milestones and ensuring everyone remains informed. Clear, respectful communication is fundamental to positive experiences for all participants.

Legal Documentation Preparation

Approximately 15 weeks into pregnancy (or as recommended by your legal counsel), ABC Surrogacy coordinates with your attorney to initiate pre-birth parentage orders. This process ensures intended parents’ names appear on the baby’s birth certificate immediately following delivery, typically eliminating any need for post-birth adoption procedures.

Connecticut law provides robust legal protections for both surrogates and intended parents, offering clarity and confidence as you approach delivery.

Delivery & Post-Birth Transition

Surrogacy encompasses more than medical procedures—it’s an emotional and deeply personal experience. From maintaining regular communication with intended parents to managing the physical and emotional aspects of pregnancy, many surrogates describe the experience as a part-time commitment with full-time meaning and purpose.

Having strong support systems, whether through partners, family members, or close friends, significantly enhances the experience. We recommend entering the process from a position of emotional stability, preparing you to navigate any challenges with resilience and grace.

Birth Day & Final Steps

On delivery day, your hospital team, ABC Surrogacy representatives, and intended parents collaborate to ensure a smooth and respectful experience. Following delivery, legal documentation is completed and intended parents’ names are placed on the birth certificate according to Connecticut law.

The post-birth period often brings feelings of relief, pride, and joy, knowing you’ve created life-changing impact for another family.

Supporting LGBTQ+ Family Building in Connecticut

At Abundant Beginnings Co. (ABC Surrogacy), inclusivity forms the foundation of our mission. We enthusiastically support all paths to parenthood—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status—and we’re privileged to work with surrogates who share our commitment to creating loving families in all their forms.

When you partner with ABC Surrogacy in Connecticut, you may have opportunities to help build families for same-sex couples, single parents by choice, and LGBTQ+ individuals from throughout Connecticut and neighboring states. Each journey receives respectful, compassionate care that honors the unique path every intended parent follows.

The Connecticut Parentage Act represents a significant advancement toward complete equality in surrogacy law. This legislation explicitly protects the rights of all intended parents, regardless of gender identity or marital status, to establish legal parentage from birth. Key protections include:

  • Pre-birth parentage orders available to all LGBTQ+ individuals and couples
  • Birth certificates listing intended parents equally as “Parent and Parent”
  • Legal processes that don’t require genetic connections or traditional family structures to define parenthood

These legal advances reflect Connecticut’s progressive values and enable both surrogates and intended parents to proceed with confidence and legal certainty.

At ABC Surrogacy, we ensure every surrogate feels secure, respected, and supported throughout their entire journey. By joining our program, you’re not only helping grow a family—you’re also contributing to a more inclusive and compassionate society.

If you believe in love’s power to create families in all forms, we would be honored to share this journey with you in Connecticut.
