Why Be A Surrogate?

Becoming a surrogate involves big commitment, but ultimately brings the reward of helping create new families.

Compensation & Costs

For a first-time surrogate in Indiana, base compensation typically ranges between $60,000 and $70,000. This compensation reflects the substantial commitment you are making, both physically and emotionally, as well as the time and dedication required throughout the pregnancy. If you have previously completed a surrogacy journey, you may qualify for higher base compensation, often exceeding $85,000, in recognition of the valuable experience and insight you bring to the process.

Additional Benefits

In addition to base compensation, Indiana surrogates receive comprehensive reimbursements and stipends designed to cover pregnancy-related expenses and ensure your comfort throughout the journey. Abundant Beginnings’s compensation package typically offers the following:

  • Maternity Clothing Allowance: A designated stipend to help you purchase maternity clothing and other essentials needed during pregnancy.
  • Medical Insurance: Intended parents generally secure or provide coverage for a comprehensive health insurance policy that covers prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum services.
  • Monthly Allowance: A regular stipend to help cover incidental expenses such as travel to medical appointments, parking fees, meals, or phone calls.
  • Childcare and Travel Costs: Reimbursement for childcare expenses when attending medical visits, as well as travel-related costs including fuel, lodging, or transportation if required.
  • $4,000 Bonus: A bonus is offered at medical and legal clearance, totally $4,000 as a way of recognizing your commitment from the very beginning.

When these benefits are combined with your base compensation, the total compensation package for a surrogate in Indiana frequently reaches or exceeds $85,000.

Health Insurance and Coverage

In Indiana, intended parents are responsible for ensuring that comprehensive health insurance coverage is in place for all pregnancy-related medical care. Surrogates should not be required to pay out-of-pocket expenses for prenatal appointments, delivery, or postpartum care. Any deductibles, copayments, or gaps in coverage are reimbursed by the intended parents. If your existing insurance policy excludes surrogacy coverage, the intended parents will arrange alternative coverage or ensure that all medical costs are fully addressed.

Peace of Mind for Everyone

Indiana’s legal framework for surrogacy provides an added layer of security and confidence for both surrogates and intended parents. Prebirth parentage orders, when properly obtained, establish legal parentage before the child is born, simplifying the birth certificate process and providing clarity for all parties. At Abundant Beginnings Co. (ABC Surrogacy), you will work with a dedicated team that understands Indiana law and is committed to ensuring that your compensation, medical needs, and legal protections are all properly handled. Our priority is to help you experience a positive, safe, and well-supported surrogacy journey.

Indiana Surrogate Requirements

Age Requirements

We typically work with surrogates between the ages of 21 and 40. This age range is designed to support both physical readiness for pregnancy and overall health and wellbeing.

Previous Healthy Pregnancy

Before becoming a surrogate, you must have successfully carried at least one pregnancy to term without major complications.

This requirement demonstrates that your body can manage the physical demands of pregnancy and provides you with the confidence and experience needed for the surrogacy journey.

Medical Screening

Each surrogate completes a thorough medical evaluation to confirm overall health and to identify any conditions that could pose risks during pregnancy.

A psychological assessment is also conducted to ensure that you are emotionally prepared for the unique responsibilities and experiences associated with surrogacy. Our goal is to make certain that you feel confident, informed, and supported from the outset.

U.S Citizenship or Permanent Residency

You must be a United States citizen, lawful permanent resident, or green card holder.

If you are a legal resident or immigrant, your documentation must remain valid for at least two years. Having proper legal status ensures that the process proceeds smoothly and that your rights are fully protected under Indiana law.

Healthy Lifestyle

A Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18 and 32 is recommended.

Maintaining a healthy weight helps reduce medical risks during pregnancy and supports a safer experience for both you and the baby.

Legal Representation

Surrogates in Indiana are also required to retain independent legal counsel to review and finalize the surrogacy contract. Abundant Beginnings will share referrals of highly qualified and experienced attorneys who are familiar with Indiana law. Our intention is to ensure that your rights are protected and that you fully understand the terms of the agreement.

Your attorney will work with you to explain Indiana’s legal procedures, including the process for obtaining prebirth parentage orders, and will advocate for your interests throughout the journey.

Background Check

A background check is part of our standard screening process.

This step helps ensure there are no legal or ethical concerns, either for you or your partner, that could affect the surrogacy process or the intended parents.

At Abundant Beginnings Co. (ABC Surrogacy), we’re committed to guiding and supporting surrogates throughout every step of their journey. Our experienced and compassionate team ensures you feel valued, cared for, and respected, creating the best possible experience for both you and the families you help create.

Surrogacy for LGBTQ+ Families

At Abundant Beginnings, we are committed to inclusivity and welcome all aspiring surrogates, regardless of the sexual orientation or marital status of the intended parents. When you partner with us as a surrogate in Indiana, you may have the meaningful opportunity to help create families for same-sex couples, single parents, and other diverse family structures.

Our agency approaches every surrogacy journey with sensitivity, respect, and professionalism, recognizing that each family is unique and deserving of support. We strive to create a welcoming environment where surrogates feel valued, respected, and comfortable throughout the entire process.

Indiana law permits same-sex couples and single individuals to pursue surrogacy and obtain prebirth parentage orders, ensuring that LGBTQ+ families have access to the same legal protections and recognition as any other family. These legal protections help establish parentage clearly and confidently, providing peace of mind for everyone involved.

Our goal is to make every surrogacy journey meaningful and fulfilling. When you work with Abundant Beginnings, you join a supportive community that values your contribution and respects the diversity of families you help create. We are honored to walk alongside you as you help build loving homes across Indiana.
