Hello, I am Kaylee! I’m 29 years old, and I’m a second-time surrogate! Being a surrogate is one of the most rewarding journeys I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It was a whirlwind to say the least! 

Hello! My name is Jennifer, and you can call me Jen. My husband’s name is Anthony, and we just celebrated 10 years together!  We have 2 crazy, big-hearted boys — Jayden, who is 4, and Madden, who is 2. My husband and I were born and raised in the lovely Rocky Mountain State of Colorado.

Abundant Beginnings attends the ASRM Convention, an education and research meeting for Reproductive Medicine, because we feel it is vital for us to be aware of the latest technology and research in our field.

Today is a special day!  Today is the day the surrogate baby I delivered turns 1! Time has flown by, and it has been amazing to watch this little one grow this past year through pictures and visits. He is such a little stud!

The first time I heard about surrogacy was while my wife, Julie was pregnant with our first child.  She said, "I really want to carry a baby for someone someday.  This experience is incredible and you know how bad my heart hurts for couples unable to conceive or carry." My response was what any man would think... I knew the risks involved in pregnancy and at first I was worried for my wife's health.

An important part in the process of becoming a gestational surrogate is the psychological assessment. While it may sound intimidating, the assessment is really a way for the therapist to get to know the potential surrogate and her partner (if she has one) and help them really understand the specifics about surrogacy and the potential emotional and relational aspects of a surrogate journey, so that together they can decide if this option will be a positive and satisfying experience in their lives.

On 7/15/15, I had the privilege of delivering a beautiful baby boy — the precious cargo I had been carrying for my Intended Parents, from my agency Abundant Beginnings™.  Since that day, I have been asked the following questions more times than I can count.  Here is a brief glimpse of what it’s like 6 months postpartum as a surrogate mother.

As a surrogate, I have been asked hundreds of times, “what made you want to become a surrogate?”  The quick answer I almost always gave to passing strangers was “it was just always something I wanted to do.”  Now that I’m not busy growing a human in me, let me tell you why I took the leap of faith!
