Allie with IPs

At ABC Surrogacy, we believe that every surrogacy journey is a story worth telling. Today, we’re honored to share Allie’s story of a gestational surrogate who carried for a same-sex couple and describes the entire experience in one word: love.

Allie sat down with us to answer ten questions about her journey, her motivations, and what she hopes other women will take away from her experience.

1. What inspired you to become a surrogate?

Allie had been thinking about surrogacy for a long time, even before becoming a mother herself. Having previously been an egg donor, she already understood the profound impact of helping another person build a family.

“I’ve always loved being pregnant, and I felt that if I could help another family experience the joy of having a child, it was something I wanted to do.”

What drew her to this particular family was undeniable. As a same-sex couple, their path to parenthood looked a little different — and for Allie, that made the opportunity even more meaningful.

“From the beginning, it was easy to see how much love they already had for their future child, and being able to help make that dream a reality was incredibly rewarding.”

2. Was she always open to carrying for any type of family?

For Allie, the answer was simple: family comes in all forms. Her focus during the matching process was never about structure. It was about connection.

“What mattered most was finding intended parents who were kind, committed, and ready to love a child unconditionally.”

3. How did the relationship with her intended parents develop?

From the early days of getting to know each other through matching, to sharing milestones throughout the pregnancy, Allie and her intended parents built something genuine.

“By the time delivery came around, it felt like we had been through something really special together. They were always appreciative and supportive, which made the journey even more rewarding.”

4. What surprised her most about the journey?

Allie went in prepared for the medical side of surrogacy: the appointments, the medications, the pregnancy itself. What she didn’t anticipate was the emotional depth of the experience.

“I didn’t fully realize how meaningful it would be to watch someone become a parent. Seeing their excitement at every milestone and knowing I played a role in helping create their family was something I’ll never forget.”

5. How did her family support her?

Allie’s husband was by her side from the very beginning through appointments, transfers, and everything in between. Her broader family and friends were equally encouraging.

“Having that support system made the experience so much easier and more enjoyable.”

6. Do they stay in touch after the birth?

Yes! It’s one of Allie’s favorite parts of the whole journey.

“One of my favorite parts has been getting updates and watching their family grow. It’s so special to see the baby thriving and to know how loved he is.”

7. What does it mean to her personally?

This is where Allie’s words say it better than we ever could.

“Becoming a mom completely changed my life, and knowing I was able to help another family experience that same joy is incredibly meaningful. Seeing how loved and wanted this child is makes me feel grateful that I was able to play a role in helping make their dream come true.”

8. What would she say to a woman considering surrogacy?

Allie’s advice for women who may have questions about the types of families they might carry for is both practical and beautiful.

“I would encourage her to keep an open mind and focus on the people rather than the labels. Every family’s path to parenthood is different, but at the end of the day, most intended parents are simply hoping for the chance to love and raise a child. Take the time to get to know people, ask questions, and trust your instincts. The right match will feel right.”

9. What does she hope other women take away?

“I hope other women see that surrogacy can be an incredibly positive and rewarding experience. You don’t have to be someone extraordinary to make a huge impact on another family. If you enjoy pregnancy and feel called to help others, surrogacy can be a beautiful journey.”

10. How would she describe the experience in one word?

“Love. There was so much love throughout the entire journey. Watching them become parents and finally meet their son after everything it took to get there was incredibly special. Seeing that moment when they held him for the first time made the whole experience feel so beautiful and rewarding.”
