From Brittany’s IP…

I knew that I was taking on a lot when I decided to become a father and even more so when I decided to do it as a single parent. It wasn’t a decision that I took lightly and there was definitely some anxiety. I feel very fortunate to have found Nicole and her team at Abundant Beginnings Co. Surrogacy. They were hand-in-hand with me during the process and helped me navigate every step — even during Covid. They aligned me with a surrogate who was really an amazing fit and whom I have a tremendous amount of appreciation and respect.

Just two weeks ago I welcomed my healthy, happy, sweet baby boy and I couldn’t be more thrilled!  Thank you, Brittany, and many thanks to your family.

From Brittany.…

My handsome little belly buddy was born Monday evening via c-section. He was 6 lb 7 oz and 19in long. He was a little early (Due date was January 7) but both of us are at home and doing good.

Last Monday, I had my weekly check up with my OB, and during the ultrasound they noticed my amniotic fluid was a bit low (6cm). Even though it was still in the normal range (5-25cm), it was too close to abnormal for my doctor’s comfort. So, she kept me overnight at the hospital to monitor us. Tuesday morning, they rechecked and it was the same, but they gave me a steroid shot to help develop the baby a bit more, and let me go home since our vitals were good.

A week later, I went back for my weekly checkup and the fluid had gone back down, so the doctor decided it was safest for me and the baby to proceed with the delivery. I was already 37 weeks 3 days and already had two steroid shots.

My husband and I drove to the hospital where we met my Intended Father. They prepared me for the c-section. This was my second c-section, so I had somewhat of a sense of what was coming.  The spinal block was a bit challenging, but little man was born healthy and that’s what matters! My Intended Father stayed in the room next to me, and was so amazing at allowing me to see the baby.
My recovery is going smoothly. I was able to pump some colostrum for baby boy. Still waiting for my milk to come in but I’m not stressed about it. (Update: It has started to come in now that I’m home.) At the hospital, I got to spend some time with my Intended Father and his family and baby boy. Seeing the way my IP’s face lights up when he holds him makes everything worth it. I’m thankful I was able to be a part of their amazing journey!
